How big is the problem of worn out tires? In 2003, the Rubber Manufacturers Association estimated that there were 275 million tires in stockpiles across the United States, and that approximately 290 million scrap tires are added each year. Scrap tires provide an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes, which carry and transmit life-threatening diseases such as encephalitis, West Nile and Eastern Equine virus, and dengue fever in some regions. Stockpiles can also catch on fire as a result of lightning strikes, equipment malfunctions or arson.

Set Up Instructions:

Make sure that the washing machine is flat before setting up the pads. Elevate one side at a time, put pads under the feet of the washing machine. (Help may be needed lifting the machine.) Utilizing two people is the recommended method for installation. Make sure that the feet of the unit fit soundly in the recess of the pad. Be sure that the pads do not move or turn under the feet. It may be required to adjust the feet somewhat to hold the pads steadfast to the floor.

Pads should be installed by a trained professional. B Green is not responsible for any damage to the floor should it occur. VibeAway will not help decrease vibration of severely unbalanced loads. These pads are manufactured to help diminish the transfer of vibration from washing machines and dryers. B Green Innovations, Inc. will not be responsible for pads that are incorrectly installed or not for their intended use.

Helpful Hints:

  • Leave lid of washer open after use to allow machine to dry out, this will help prevent stale smells.
  • DO NOT use pre-wash sprays near machine, as it will damage the paintwork, particularly the graphic panel.
  • When using powder detergents mix first with warm water to dissolve powder before adding to wash.
  • At least once a year, wash the machine out with 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda, one scoop of the normal used wash powder, fill the machine with HOT water and allow the machine to run through a long normal cycle (NO CLOTHES).
  • Always use a little higher water level to allow the clothing to move around freely, to save wear of the machine and clothing.
  • Don't over use washing powders.
  • Turn off taps and de-pressure hoses after use.

How much detergent do I need for each load?

This depends on the hardness of your water and the soil in your clothing. Softened water requires quite a bit less detergent than hard water--yet the more soiled the clothes, the more detergent you need to clean them. See the instructions on the detergent package for specific guidelines. If soap suds remain at the end of the cycle, you are probably using too much detergent.

How do I know how many clothes to put into the washer?

For a top loader, a general rule of thumb is to lay clothes loosely inside the washer until they reach the top of the agitator. For a front loader, fill it until it's full, with minimal compression of the clothes.

Why do some clothing dealers suggest washing clothes inside out?

In the washer, the clothes often turn inside out during the agitation cycle. Turning the clothes inside out first may be easier on the clothing. It limits abrasion on the “good” side of the fabric, reducing “pilling” and extending the life of some fabrics such as corduroy. In addition, any embroidery, decals, and so on are better preserved. It should not affect the performance of the cleaning action to have the clothes inside out during wash.
